Four for Fall || Fall 2020 Book Releases I Cannot Wait to Read

As autumn approaches, I am slowly accepting the fact that I won’t be able to travel somewhere new this fall—which sucks because it is something I always look forward to every year ever since I got into solo traveling. But thankfully, there are a lot of great reads hitting the shelves this fall, there will be a lot of new worlds to discover and we’d be able to meet new characters to love… and hate. Under the circumstances, reading can be an excellent alternative to traveling.

I. Blood & Honey (Serpent & Dove #2) by Shelby Mahurin

The hotly anticipated sequel to the New York Times and IndieBound bestseller Serpent & Dove—packed with even steamier romance and darker magic—is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas.

I’ve been waiting for this since forever! Serpent & Dove is one of my favorite books to date, I absolutely loved it. So I can’t wait to get my hands on this bloody sequel!

After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.

To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces.

As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.

II. A Deadly Education (Scholomance #1) by Naomi Novik

Learning has never been this deadly.

A Deadly Education (Scholomance, #1) by Naomi Novik

This book popped up on my Goodreads’ recommendations while I was scrolling through The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue’s reviews. I instantly got hooked on the cover and synopsis so I searched for more information about this book. I ended up finding this really cool website and a 66-page esampler.

A Deadly Education is set at Scholomance, a school for the magically gifted where failure means certain death (for real) — until one girl, El, begins to unlock its many secrets.

There are no teachers, no holidays, and no friendships, save strategic ones. Survival is more important than any letter grade, for the school won’t allow its students to leave until they graduate… or die!

The rules are deceptively simple: Don’t walk the halls alone. And beware of the monsters who lurk everywhere. El is uniquely prepared for the school’s dangers. She may be without allies, but she possesses a dark power strong enough to level mountains and wipe out millions. It would be easy enough for El to defeat the monsters that prowl the school.

The problem? Her powerful dark magic might also kill all the other students.

III. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab

Just really sad that I missed the chance to get the special edition box of this book from Owlcrate. Other than that, I think I’ve already said enough about this book on this post.

France, 1714: in a moment of desperation, a young woman makes a Faustian bargain to live forever and is cursed to be forgotten by everyone she meets.

Thus begins the extraordinary life of Addie LaRue, and a dazzling adventure that will play out across centuries and continents, across history and art, as a young woman learns how far she will go to leave her mark on the world.

But everything changes when, after nearly 300 years, Addie stumbles across a young man in a hidden bookstore and he remembers her name.

In the vein of The Time Traveler’s Wife and Life After LifeThe Invisible Life of Addie LaRue is New York Times bestselling author V. E. Schwab’s genre-defying tour de force.

IV. The Lives of Saints by Leigh Bardugo

Enter the world of the Grishaverse and Shadow and Bone, soon to be a Netflix original series!

October 06, 2020
Although the trilogy wasn’t my favorite (mainly because of the characters), the Grishaverse world-building is undeniably phenomenal.

Dive into the epic world of international bestselling author Leigh Bardugo with this beautifully illustrated replica of The Lives of Saints, the Istorii Sankt’ya, featuring tales of saints drawn from the beloved novels and beyond. Out of the pages of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, from the hands of Alina Starkov to yours, the Istorii Sankt’ya is a magical keepsake from the Grishaverse.

These tales include miracles and martyrdoms from familiar saints like Sankta Lizabeta of the Roses and Sankt Ilya in Chains, to the strange and obscure stories of Sankta Ursula, Sankta Maradi, and the Starless Saint.

This beautiful collection includes stunning full-color illustrations of each story.
